“How Much Can Be Carried?”
From my years of working on construction jobs I picked up a saying that went like this, “Don’t worry about the mule just load the wagon!”
Matthew 25:14, “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.” 15. “And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. “
The Bible teaches that you can put more on some people than you can others. Some people can only do one job at a time and others can do several at the same time and do each one well and efficiently.
Generally, it doesn’t take long for most Christian leaders to find the saying doesn’t work quite like the words tell us.
Sometimes the leader must worry about the “mule” or he will find the “mule” is over-loaded and is not producing like he could if the leader were smart enough to know how to distribute the talents.
This principle works not only where others are concerned, but it also applies to ourselves.
Maybe we would do well if we remember to have a little mercy on the “MULE.”
